Product Overview
Fully threaded stud bolts manufactured to ASTM A193 Grade B7 and B7M, designed for tensioned bolting in flanged connections, pressure vessels, and high-temperature piping systems. Studs are threaded full length or with a reduced-body shank per ASME B16.5 mating requirements. Standard pairing: ASTM A194 Grade 2H heavy hex nuts.

 

Material & Mechanical Properties
Produced from quenched-and-tempered AISI 4140 chromoly bar stock or forging stock.
Grade B7: Tensile strength 125 ksi (860 MPa) min; hardness 321 HBW max.
Grade B7M: Tensile strength 100 ksi (690 MPa) min; hardness 200–235 HBW, specified for sour service and NACE MR0175 compliance.
Chemical composition and mechanical values are fully traceable and certified per ASTM A193.


Thread & Dimensional Range
Metric diameters M6 through M100; inch diameters 1/4″ through 4″. Threads are rolled or cut to ASME B1.1 UNC/UNF or ISO metric coarse/fine. Stud ends are chamfered. Lengths supplied to order, continuous all-thread configuration.


Assembly & Torque Control
Installed under tensile preload using calibrated torque wrenches, hydraulic tensioners, or stud stretching tools. Combined with A194 Grade 2H nuts, the joint achieves a controlled clamp force suitable for high-pressure seal integrity.


Corrosion & Service Environment
Standard finish: bare alloy steel with light oil. Alternative coatings (Xylan®/PTFE, zinc-nickel, or hot-dip galvanized) available where corrosion resistance is required, with hardness control maintained for B7M conditions.


Application Suitability
Refineries, petrochemical plants, power generation, compressor stations, heat exchanger flanges, and any bolted joint exposed to elevated temperatures and pressures where alloy steel fasteners are specified.
