Product Introduction
High-strength structural bolting assemblies manufactured to ASTM F3125/F3125M, Grade A325M, the consolidated specification replacing former ASTM A325M. The assembly comprises a quenched and tempered heavy hex bolt, a matching heavy hex nut, and a hardened washer. Diameters M12 to M36 inclusive. Type 1 (carbon, carbon-boron, or alloy steel) and Type 3 (weathering steel) options. Minimum tensile strength 830 MPa, minimum yield strength 660 MPa.
Material & Mechanical Properties
Grade A325M bolts are quenched and tempered medium-carbon steel. Type 1 chemistry per specified carbon, carbon-boron, alloy, or alloy-boron limits. Type 3 weathering steel conforms to chemical composition A or B, or demonstrates a corrosion index of 6 or greater. Hardness values per ASTM F3125 Table 5. Certified by lot with heat-number traceability.
Geometry & Thread
Heavy hex head dimensions to ASME B18.2.6. Metric sizes M12 to M36 inclusive. Bolts with length up to 4D that are fully threaded but not otherwise required to be fully threaded are marked “T”. Nonstandard thread length or head style supplied under Supplementary Requirement S2 is marked “S”.
Surface Finish
Plain (uncoated), hot-dip galvanized to ASTM F2329, or mechanically deposited zinc to ASTM B695. For galvanized assemblies, bolt threads are manufactured oversize before coating; nuts and bolts are coated by the same process and must assemble freely when ordered together.
